Dan enters another season of coaching at El Toro High School, building on his experience as a four-year player and team captain for the Chargers (Class of 2023). After serving as an assistant coach during the boys' program's first CIF Championship run in 2025, he stepped into the role of Varsity Head Coach. Dan has excelled in the head coaching position, quickly earning the respect of his players and maintaining the program's competitive standard through a focus on accountability, structured training, and clear communication.
Off the court, Dan is pursuing a degree in Kinesiology at Cal State Long Beach with plans to become a physical therapist. His goal is to bridge the gap between competitive athletics and professional wellness, helping his players prioritize both their current performance and long-term physical health.
Julia Xu is a premier Southern California volleyball coach specializing in technical training, player mentorship, and elite team dynamics. Deeply embedded in the Orange County volleyball community, Julia serves as an Assistant Coach for Tstreet Volleyball Club's elite 16U division. A staple of the El Toro High School program since 2019, she serves as an Assistant Coach for both the boys' and girls' varsity teams, while also leading the girls' freshman squad as Head Coach. Known for her high-energy approach and tactical expertise, she is dedicated to building well-rounded, disciplined athletes who excel both on the court and as leaders within their teams.
Sean Dixon is an elite volleyball coach, former player, and the 2025 CIF-SS Division 6 Coach of the Year. Originally a standout player and team captain at St. Augustine High School, Sean has spent the last decade building a reputation as one of Southern California's premier program builders. His extensive coaching pedigree includes tenures with Balboa Bay Volleyball Club and Pacifica Christian, alongside a historic championship turnaround with the El Toro High School boys' team—where he proudly continues to work with the El Toro Girls Volleyball program. Now also leading the varsity boys' program at Aliso Niguel High School, Sean remains dedicated to instilling a culture of growth, accountability, and competitive excellence in every athlete he coaches.
Kelly Conerty (Moomaw) brings a lifelong foundation of discipline, team-first leadership, and elite performance to her work as an educator and mentor. A former Division 1 student-athlete, Kelly competed for the University of California, Berkeley Golden Bears Women’s Volleyball team. During her time at Cal, she established herself as a formidable competitor, etching her name into the program’s history books where she remains among the all-time career leaders in kills and attack attempts.
Today, Kelly translates the drive, resilience, and focus developed at the collegiate level into her local community. She currently serves as a Health and Physical Education Teacher at Serrano Intermediate School, where she also coaches the school's intramural volleyball teams. Expanding her impact to the high school level, Kelly has coached the El Toro High School Girls Beach Volleyball team since its inaugural year. Bringing decades of elite knowledge and a passion for player development, she continues to be a stellar addition to the El Toro Volleyball program, inspiring the next generation of athletes to find joy in the game and strive for excellence both on and off the court.
Kaikoa Soma has spent over 12 years letting his passion for volleyball drive his life, career, and coaching philosophy. Growing up in Lake Forest, CA, he fell in love with the game early on, competing for El Toro and earning a roster spot to play at the collegiate level. During his time as a Defensive Specialist at the University of California, Merced, he learned exactly what it takes to train, compete, and win at the elite level.
In an exciting full-circle moment, Kaikoa has returned to his alma mater, where he proudly serves as a coach for both the boys and girls volleyball programs. His transition to high school coaching—alongside his experience training club athletes at OCVC—allows him to turn his extensive court knowledge inward to help younger athletes grow. Kaikoa believes that great volleyball is built on a foundation of discipline, relentless defense, and tight-knit teamwork.
